Public records, used carefully

If you open a call with a wrong fact about someone's raise, you lose a prospect who could have been a referral. So every item is built to be checked before you call.

Can I use these records?

Both sources are public records that the government publishes for reuse. The SEC says so on its own site: Source: SEC privacy page, Website Dissemination (opens in a new tab)

“Information presented on sec.gov is considered public information and may be copied or further distributed by users of the web site without the SEC’s permission. Please consider appropriate citation to the SEC as the source.”

We do cite it: every Form D item links to its filing on sec.gov.

SBA publishes the 7(a) and 504 loan file on data.sba.gov with the license "U.S. Government Works". US copyright law covers that case: Source: data.sba.gov, 7(a) & 504 FOIA (opens in a new tab)

“Copyright protection under this title is not available for any work of the United States Government…”

This page explains how we use the records. It isn't legal advice.

We say exactly what the record says

  • "Filed a Form D on [date]; [amount] sold so far." Never "raised [amount] this week". The amount is a running total since the first sale, which can be months earlier. Source: Where the data comes from
  • "Lists no finance title." Never "has no CFO". Form D roles are checkboxes and titles are optional. Source: Where the data comes from
  • "SBA approved." Never "received". Some approved loans have not been paid out yet. Source: Where the data comes from

2 items from the current Houston list, exactly as we print them:

OTHRAM, INC., THE WOODLANDS: filed Form D on Nov 6, 2026; $10,000,000 sold so far of a $10,000,000 offering, first sale Sep 10, 2026. The filing names David Mittelman (Executive Officer, Director), John H. Burbank (Director) and Stephen Oskoui (Director); it lists no finance title.

Approved, not yet disbursed (SBA status COMMIT as of Sep 30, 2026)

NABLI HOSPITALITY LLC, Katy: SBA 7(a) loan of $5,000,000 approved Sep 2, 2026 through GBank (Change of Ownership). (SBA data as of Sep 30, 2026.)

Industry: Hotels (except Casino Hotels) and Motels (NAICS 721110)

SBA 7(a) & 504 loan data (opens in a new tab) FOIA_7a_FY2020_Present_asof_260930.csv (SBA's CSV file, opens in a new tab), spreadsheet row 397762, BorrName "NABLI HOSPITALITY LLC", BorrZip 77449

To check the SBA item yourself

  • Download FOIA_7a_FY2020_Present_asof_260930.csv from the SBA dataset page linked on the item, then search it for LocationID 0450833.
  • "CSV row 397761" counts records after the header row, so in a spreadsheet the record is on row 397,762. Some earlier records hold line breaks, so a text editor shows it further down.
  • Or download just that record: curl -s -r 185806023-185806502 'https://data.sba.gov/sites/default/files/uploaded_resources/FOIA_7a_FY2020_Present_asof_260930.csv'

How you reach out is your call

We give no email addresses. A Form D item names the officers and directors the filing lists, with their roles, and the company phone as filed. An SBA item names the business, its city and its lender.

If you email a company, US email law (CAN-SPAM) applies to business email too. The FTC puts it plainly: Source: FTC, CAN-SPAM Act compliance guide (opens in a new tab)

“The law makes no exception for business-to-business email.”

Federal Trade Commission. FTC, CAN-SPAM Act compliance guide (opens in a new tab), read .

Following those rules is up to you. The FTC guide linked above lists them.

Not for decisions about people

The lists are about companies. Don't use them to decide whether a person gets credit, a job, insurance or housing. Reports used for decisions like those are regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and our lists aren't built for that. Source: FTC, Fair Credit Reporting Act (opens in a new tab)

For executive search: use the list to find companies, never to screen candidates.

A Form D names the company's executive officers and directors. We print their names and roles as filed, and nothing about anyone's personal finances. SBA loans to individuals, and loans listed under a person's name, are held out of the lists. This quarter's count is under What we leave out.

Every item is one click from its record

  • Each Form D item links to its filing page on sec.gov.
  • Each SBA item links to the SBA dataset and names the file, the borrower, the ZIP and the row, with the file's as-of date, plus SBA's LocationID when the file has one. Searching the file for the LocationID is the surest way to find the row.
  • Before an item is printed, code re-reads it from the saved government file. If anything doesn't match, the item is held back, not patched. Source: How we check
  • Spot a wrong record? Use "Wrong record?" on the item, or email hello@newlyraised.com. A person reads every report.

Questions

Is it legal to use SEC Form D and SBA loan records to find clients?

Both are public records published for reuse. The SEC says: "Information presented on sec.gov is considered public information and may be copied or further distributed by users of the web site without the SEC’s permission. Please consider appropriate citation to the SEC as the source." SBA publishes its 7(a) and 504 loan file as "U.S. Government Works". How you contact a company is your call; for email, CAN-SPAM applies, and the FTC says "The law makes no exception for business-to-business email." This is not legal advice.

Do you provide email addresses?

No. A Form D item names the officers and directors the filing lists, with their roles, and the company phone as filed. An SBA item names the business, its city and its lender.

Can I use the lists to screen job candidates, tenants or borrowers?

No. The lists are about companies. Don't use them to decide whether a person gets credit, a job, insurance or housing; those decisions are regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
