What we list: two public records

"Recently funded" is how people search for this. What we list is narrower, and each item is one of these:

A new SEC Form D
The notice a company files with the SEC within 15 days after the first sale in a private (exempt) offering. It gives the amount sold so far, the offering size, and the officers and directors.
A $1M+ SBA loan approval
An SBA 7(a) or 504 loan of at least that amount, approved to a business (not a person), from SBA's quarterly FOIA file. Cancelled loans are dropped. The file names the lender.

We remove investment funds, SPVs, real-estate and finance deals, LPs, public companies, and companies whose Form Ds name a finance officer, now or in an earlier filing. Each company is placed by the ZIP on the record in its Census metro or micro area (a core-based statistical area, CBSA); a ZIP outside every area is held out, never moved to the nearest one. PPP loans and raises that never show up as a Form D are not included. Where the data comes from.

What "funded" does and doesn't mean

"Recently funded" is the search phrase, not our claim. We say exactly what each record says, and no more.

Form D

It means

  • The company filed a notice of an exempt offering on that date.
  • It reported an amount sold so far and the size of the offering.
  • The filing names these people, with their role checkboxes.

It doesn't mean

  • That the money arrived this week. The amount is a running total since the first sale, which can be months earlier.
  • That any money came in at all. Some filings report nothing sold yet and a first sale yet to occur; we mark them "No sale yet".
  • That the SEC reviewed or approved anything.
  • That nobody handles finance there. Titles are optional, so we can only say the filing lists no finance title.
  • That the company works at that address. It can be a registered agent or a virtual office.

SBA loan

It means

  • SBA approved a loan of that amount on that date, to that business name and address, through that lender.
  • SBA recorded the business's age category, for example a change of ownership (the business was bought).

It doesn't mean

  • That the money was paid out. Status COMMIT (7(a)) or NOT FUNDED (504) means not yet disbursed.
  • That the approval is from this week. SBA publishes once a quarter; the current file's approvals are dated Jul–Sep 2026.
  • Who owns the business. SBA publishes no people.
  • For a 504 loan, the full project size. The amount is SBA's part; the bank's own loan comes on top.

In the Houston lists above: 1 of the 12 Form Ds had a first sale more than 90 days before the filing; 1 of the 12 Form Ds reports an amount that includes conversions or non-cash consideration; 8 of the 10 SBA loans were approved but not yet disbursed as of Sep 30, 2026.

Questions

Which companies are on this list?

Those with one of two public records. A company in your metro filed a new SEC Form D (a notice of a private raise, due within 15 days after the first sale), or a business got a $1M+ SBA 7(a) or 504 loan approved. The Form D list covers the last 4 weeks of EDGAR filings; the SBA list covers the latest quarterly file (Jul–Sep 2026).

Is this every company that raised money?

No. We remove investment funds, SPVs, real-estate and finance deals, LPs, public companies, and companies whose Form Ds name a finance officer, now or in an earlier filing. In Nov 2–6, 2026 the SEC listed 1,308 Form Ds; we kept 95 new ones. A company that raises without filing a Form D is not on the list.

Does "sold so far" mean the money came in this week?

No. The Form D amount is a running total since the first sale, and the first sale can be months before the filing. Some filings report nothing sold yet. We mark filings made more than 90 days after the first sale, and those with nothing sold, in every list, including the one your ZIP opens.

Did the SBA borrower get the money?

Not always. SBA approved the loan. Status COMMIT (7(a)) or NOT FUNDED (504) means not yet disbursed. For a 504 loan the amount is SBA's part; the bank's own loan comes on top.

How fresh is the list?

Form D: we read every EDGAR daily index; the newest held now is Nov 6, 2026. SBA: published once a quarter, about a month after the quarter ends. The current file is as of Sep 30, 2026 and was published Oct 30, 2026; its approvals are dated Jul 1, 2026 to Sep 30, 2026.

Can I see recently funded companies in my city?

Yes. Type a ZIP or city above. We sort companies by Census core-based statistical area (CBSA), which takes in metro and the smaller micro areas: a ZIP maps to its county, and the county to its area. Every area in the 2023 Census list (935 of them) is covered except Connecticut's. A ZIP outside every area is never placed in the nearest one.

Does "lists no finance title" mean the company has nobody in finance?

No. Form D roles are checkboxes and titles are optional. It means no finance title appears on this filing or on any earlier Form D from the same company; otherwise we drop the company.

Do I get contact details?

Form D items name the officers and directors the filing lists, with their roles, and the issuer phone as filed. SBA items give the business name, city and lender; SBA publishes no people. We give no email addresses.
